Outdoor solar lighting is also becoming popular in homes and cities. And an effective way of heating the homes especially in cold countries is the use of solar water heaters and solar space heaters. The most common is the rooftop solar that can power almost all electrical appliances, gadgets and lighting with some solar panel mounted on the house’s roof.

Actual solar panel installation takes only a few days. The panels should be free of shade from 9:00 o’clock in the morning to 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon all throughout the year. The system maximizes the use of the sun’s rays.

Installing a residential electric solar system can save a household about $200 in current electric bills in the first year and about $1,000 every year for the next 25 years from the second year of operation. Solar electrical system last for more than 20 years and most systems still operate from an additional 30 to 50 years.

But one of the distinct advantages of utilizing solar energy is the non-dependence on conventional fossil fuel-based energy. Present day non-solar energy systems are subject to fluctuations and power outages due to limitations of non-renewable energy. Bunker or diesel fuel is becoming more expensive, and its supply is approaching the limits.

In utilizing solar energy, power is assured all throughout the year with less cost and less dependency on the electrical companies that tend to monopolize the generation, distribution, and application of conventional non-renewable energy.

Optimizing the use of solar energy will become the trend in the future.
